Message from the Representative Director

Security Business Innovation Japan (SBIJ)
I am Koichi Isobe, Representative Director of Desfense and Security Business Innovation Japan (SBIJ). Our association does not view the defense industry narrowly as defense alone; rather, we take a broader perspective encompassing defense, law enforcement, firefighting, public safety, and related fields under the concept of the “defense and security business.” We are committed to developing and expanding this concept.
Guided by the motto “connecting the frontlines,” we dedicate ourselves to linking the defense and security frontlines with businesses and academia by matching the “needs of the defense and security frontlines” with the “seeds from businesses and academia.” Through this effort, we aim to revitalize Japan’s defense and security business sector.
Furthermore, SBIJ aspires to be an “innovation hub” for the defense and security business, focusing on four core pillars:

Accelerate Innovation in the Defense & Security Business
Build Bridges between Global and Japanese Defense & Security Enterprises
Promote Exchange of Knowledge and Insights between the World and Japan
Foster Talent to Lead the Global Defense & Security Business

Looking at the current international landscape, we witness profound shifts in the global order. The post-World War II order, established under the leadership of the United States and its allies, is being disrupted, yet the shape of a new international order remains uncertain. Amid such global changes, securing one’s own safety through independent efforts is indispensable.
With our motto of “connecting the frontlines,” SBIJ serves as an innovation hub by focusing on driving innovation, facilitating international business collaboration, promoting global information sharing, and nurturing globally capable human resources. Through these efforts, we contribute to the stability and prosperity of Japan and the world.

FY 2023	Selected as a Trial Demonstration Operator for the "Innovation Producer Demonstration Project" by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The project was applied for and implemented under the name of Crisis Intelligence Co., Ltd. (prior to the establishment of SBIJ).
FY 2024	Selected for the "Innovation Producer Demonstration Project" by the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The project was applied for and implemented under the name of Crisis Intelligence Co., Ltd. (prior to the establishment of SBIJ). Koichi Isobe, current Representative Director of SBIJ and certified Innovation Producer, played a central role in the project.
